About KillerRocks
A community, a marketplace, an identification service, and two games, built for people who actually go outside and dig things up.
What Is KillerRocks
KillerRocks is a community built around rocks, minerals, gemstones, meteorites, and hand-crafted stone work. It brings together four things that are normally scattered across different sites: a real marketplace to buy, sell, and trade specimens; a professional identification service staffed by verified experts; a full community forum and social feed; and two original browser games built specifically for this community.
Everything ties back to one account. Your rank, your listings, your forum history, your followers, and your game stats all live on a single profile, so your reputation as a trader carries the same weight as your reputation as a forum contributor or a top-ranked player. There's no separate login for the store versus the forum versus the games.
Real money and in-game currency are kept completely apart on purpose. Forum Gold (FG) is the platform's real currency, worth $1 per FG, used for actual purchases. KRC (KR Coins) exists only inside the two games and can never be converted into Forum Gold in either direction. That separation is enforced at the database level, not just a policy on paper. See the Forum Gold section below for the full explanation.
Store & Marketplace
There are three separate ways to buy and sell on KillerRocks, each suited to a different kind of transaction.
Official Store
Fixed-price listings, hand-selected and vetted by the KillerRocks team before they go live. Every listing includes real photos, origin, Mohs hardness, and weight where applicable, so you know exactly what you're getting before you buy.
Pay with a card through Stripe or with Forum Gold at checkout. Orders are tracked from confirmation through shipping, with tracking numbers attached once a package goes out.
Shop the Store →Marketplace
Member-to-member buying, selling, and trading, open to anyone with an account. Post a listing as Buy, Sell, or Trade, set a fixed asking price or leave it open to offers, and deal directly with the other collector.
Marketplace listings can be paid in cash through Stripe or in Forum Gold, and every listing shows the seller's rank and reputation right on the card, so you can gauge who you're dealing with before you ever message them.
Browse Marketplace →Collector Exclusive
A curated gallery limited to work from staff-approved Master Artisans and Master Knappers, the only sellers on the site permitted to list here. These aren't just collected specimens; they're hand-crafted pieces, tools, and cut work made by the person selling them.
Every listing carries a "Made & Sold By" card showing exactly who made the piece and who's selling it, with a direct link to that artisan's verified profile.

COMING SOONThis service is not open yet. Once it launches, you'll be able to submit photos and details of a find, and a staff-approved Verified Gemologist (for gemstones and minerals) or Verified Meteorologist (for suspected meteorites) will review it and issue an official KillerRocks identification certificate, covering stone type, classification, treatments, and more depending on what's being identified.
Planned pricing is three tiers based on turnaround speed: Standard, Priority, and Rush. Full pricing and submission will go live here as soon as the service opens.
Gemologists and meteorologists apply for verification (see the Verified Contractor Agreement) and are reviewed and approved individually by staff before they can accept requests. Verification is never automatic and never self-assigned.
Community
Rock Hound Forum
Long-form discussion, identification help, tips, and questions, organized into categories, including a dedicated category for each game, a market-talk section for trade discussion, and a newbie corner for people just getting started.
The forum landing page always shows the single latest post from across the whole community first, before you even scroll to categories, so nothing recent gets buried.
Enter Forum →Members Hub
A shorter-form social feed, separate from the forum, for Finds, Trades, Showcases, Wants, and Questions. Post a quick photo and caption instead of a full write-up.
Like and comment on posts, and follow other members so their future posts show up directly in your feed instead of you having to go looking for them.
Open Hub →Every member has a public profile showing their rank, reputation, stats, and post history. You can follow other members, message them directly, and, if something's actually wrong, report a post, listing, or user. Staff review every report with full visibility into who reported it, what it's actually about, and who ultimately reviewed it, whether the flag was auto-detected or submitted by a member.
Rank & Reputation System
Your rank is a badge that shows up next to your name everywhere on the site: forum posts, marketplace listings, the leaderboard, your profile, everywhere. There are three completely separate tracks, and they never overlap or overwrite one another.
Community Ranks, earned automatically
Reputation is earned through helpful forum replies, completed sales, and general good standing in the community. As reputation grows, your rank rises automatically through this progression, from brand new to top-tier:
Verified Specialist Ranks, staff-granted
Never earned through reputation alone. Each of these requires an application (see Community above and the Get Identified section) that staff review and approve individually before the badge appears anywhere on the site:
Staff & Administration
A completely separate chain that reputation never touches, and that a verified specialist application can never overwrite, either. Staff members are added deliberately by existing administration:
Forum Gold
Forum Gold (FG) is KillerRocks' real platform currency, worth exactly 1 FG = $1 USD, always. Buy it with a card, earn it by selling on the Store or Marketplace, spend it on listings or identification requests, tip other members, or cash it back out to real money.
Every FG transaction, whether a purchase, a sale, a tip, or a cashout, is recorded permanently in an immutable ledger. Your balance is never a stored number that can silently drift; it's always calculated as the sum of your actual transaction history, which means it can be audited and verified at any time.
Forum Gold is never linked to in-game currency.
KRC (used in Rock Hunt and KR Gold Rush) is purchased separately and stays entirely inside the games. You cannot convert KRC into Forum Gold under any circumstance, and FG spent on a KRC pack never converts back. This isn't just a stated policy; it's enforced structurally, since the two currencies are tracked in entirely separate systems. Full terms: Forum Gold Terms.
The Games
Two free browser games, playable directly from the nav bar with no download required. Both use KRC (KR Coins), an in-game only currency purchasable in packs starting around $1.99, and both feed real player stats onto the site-wide Leaderboards, so your rank in the game is visible right alongside your rank in the community.
Rock Hunt
BETAA top-down mining RPG. Explore an open world, mine resource nodes, fight enemies, and level up your character all the way to a cap of level 300 through a full skill tree that includes a Throwing skill for ranged combat alongside traditional melee.
Gear has rarity tiers that scale properly with the difficulty you're playing at, so higher-tier content actually drops better loot instead of the same items regardless of challenge. Open loot crates one at a time or in stacks of 5 or 10, and drink Speed Elixirs or Strength Tonics for timed combat buffs tracked live on your HUD.
Back at Camp, walk up to the parked tractor and drive it out across a real land claim grid: stake parcels, place equipment on them, and dig to reveal what terrain is underneath, all rendered in the same explorable world you already walk around in, not a separate loading screen or mini-game.
Play Rock Hunt →KR Gold Rush
PRE-BETAA tycoon-style prospecting game. Build up your own operation, manage a growing set of claims, and dig for resources to sell for KRC, in a persistent world that's entirely separate from Rock Hunt's.
It shares the same claim-staking and dig-to-reveal mechanics as Rock Hunt's land system, built on the same underlying engine, so progress feels familiar even though the two games play very differently overall.
Progress saves server-side automatically, including reliable saving when you close a tab or have multiple tabs open at once, and anti-cheat detection flags suspicious jumps in stats for staff review rather than silently trusting every save that comes in.
Play KR Gold Rush →Both games require accepting a one-time Game EULA the first time you play. It covers exactly how anti-cheat flags work, what they mean for your account, and the full rules for KRC. Read it here: Game EULA.
Trust & Safety
Verification, not just claims
Verified Gemologist, Verified Meteorologist, Master Artisan, and Master Knapper are never self-assigned. Each one requires a real application with credentials and sample work, reviewed and approved by staff individually, before the badge shows up anywhere on the site.
Real moderation, not a black box
Reports on posts, listings, replies, and users go into a staff queue that shows exactly who reported what, what the content actually is, and who reviewed it and when. Auto-detected flags and member-submitted reports are both tracked the same transparent way.
Staff ranks are protected
The staff chain, Moderator through Super Administrator, is structurally separate from every other rank track. Reputation can never touch it, and approving a specialist application for a staff member can never silently overwrite their access.
An auditable financial ledger
Every Forum Gold balance is calculated from a permanent transaction history rather than stored as a single editable number, so it can be verified rather than just trusted.
