Workers building - when to upgrade it?

Sitting at Workers Level 1. My workers process ore slowly but consistently. Is upgrading Workers better than putting that same gold into Lab? Trying to figure out the right build order for maximizing gold income in the mid-game.

I upgraded Workers too early and fell behind on Lab. Learned the hard way - Lab first.

Workers is essentially passive income automation. Worth it eventually but Lab and Market scale harder early.

Lab to Level 5, then Workers to Level 3. That combination is very strong in the mid-game.

Workers Level 3 is the efficiency sweet spot. The jump from Level 2 to 3 is bigger than 1 to 2.
