Creek walk find - any idea what this is?

Was walking the creek behind the property in North Carolina after heavy rain. This piece caught my eye - unusual color, heavier than expected. I am leaning toward a aquamarine rough but the habit is a bit unusual. Posting in showcase but feel free to move to ID Help if more appropriate.
