Fossilized shark teeth are one of the most accessible fossils for beginners because sharks continuously shed and regrow teeth throughout their lives, meaning a huge number were produced and preserved compared to fossils that require a full skeleton. Genuine fossilized teeth are typically darker than modern teeth, often black, gray, or brown, because the original enamel has been mineral replaced or stained by the surrounding sediment over a long burial period.
