Help IDing this black heavy specimen from North Carolina

Found this at a mine tour in Colorado. It is heavy for its size, black to dark gray, slightly metallic luster. Strong magnetic pull. I am thinking magnetite but the specific gravity seems high. Any ideas? Happy to provide more details or try a streak test.
